Getting a science or arts bachelors degree from a University is now like a basic requirement for securing a job in a very dynamic and evolving job market.
The reality is that the University or Tertiary institution was designed to help you acquire the capacity to learn. I remember this catch phrase from my University those days: "...in character and in learning". That's why the courses are referred to as "disciplines" that help instill a consistent character of humility towards a journey of life-long learning. Your degree certification does not confer the "certification of employment" on you. So, you should, after graduation or during your studies in the University seek those "skills" and "capabilities" which are in high demand within the "industry circles", and not just academia. Taking out time to attend job fairs and industry conferences or webinars are a great that you keep abreast of such knowledge in "cutting edge skills" that are in high demand by the industry entrepreneurs and employers. For instance, do I need to tell you that you need IT knowledge in greater measures to survive in today's world of work? Even the taunted Covid19 should have awakened you to this reality by now. Such skills as "Telecommuting or Working from Home" are beginning to be very significant in today's industries. Thanks to the pandemic! More than these, I have made an attempt at compiling a list of some skills that you as a fresh graduate or undergraduate should keep your tabs on.
